Benefits Of White WillowWhite Willow (Salix Alba) is a tree commonly found in the moderate climate areas throughout Europe, the Middle East, and North America. White willow is a member of willow family, along with black willow, violet willow, purple willow, crack willow, etc. The properties and benefits of willow bark have been known since the times of ancient epochs. In particular, white willow bark was used in Ancient Greece and Egypt as a good antiseptic. In the Traditional Chinese medicine white willow bark and herbal preparations with it were known as great herbal remedies to treat fever and relieve pains. In the beginning of the 19th century, it was discovered that willow bark is high in salicin, acting similarly to aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), making this medicinal plant a good natural antibiotic.
