Marigold (Calendula Officinalis)

Marigold FlowerPot Marigold (Calendula Officinalis), known also as Mary bud, holligold, bull’s eyes, ruddes, goldbloom, or quite common name of Calendula, is a medicinal plant with a great number of health benefits and therapeutic properties which have been known for many centuries, since the times of Ancient Greece and Ancient Egypt. Most probably, the plant’s name originates from the name of Virgin Mary, but there are a few theories related to this issue. Beautiful marigold flowers are of cheerful orange color and are being grown for ornamental and decorative purposes in the gardens throughout Europe and the North America, in the warm regions. Pot marigold is an aromatic herbaceous perennial plant growing up to 75-80 cm high. Though marigold can cause allergies in some people, generally this plant is considered safe and free from serious side effects.
